In Hope of fulfilling the Wishes of my Godparents Nina and Teddy Wang
Seventeen years after the passing of the late Chinachem Group C Chairlady Nina Wang, the Chinachem estate case continues to face many obstacles. Nina and her husband Teddy Wang’s godson, Anthony Cheung, is very pleased that the Secretary of Justice has finally fulfilled his duty and selected three highly distinguished individuals to become supervisors of the Charitable Organization. In order to truly attain his godparents’ wishes to contribute to society and the nation, he hopes their estate can be properly utilized for the youth, the elderly and the underprivileged.

Only the Strongest Can Accept Failure Gracefully
Hong Kong has suffered many setbacks in recent years. Anthony believes that the Trust Fund has not fulfilled its duty to contribute more to society by providing new hope and financial assistant to those in need. “Since I was four years old, my godparents treated me like their own son.” When my godmother was on her deathbed, I promised her that I would ensure her wishes will be properly honoured. At her funeral, I fulfilled my duty as her son. As the only family member who truly understood the wishes of both his Godparents, Anthony stated that he is the most qualified family member to provide constructive suggestions for the Trust Fund, to contribute to society in a more meaningful way.
He describes her as a very strong and determined woman. Even after facing her husband’s kidnapping and death, she continued to bear heavy responsibilities by upholding her business empire alone and caring for her employees and their families.
Elegant Ladies and Great Achievements

Like any great heroes in history, my Godfather was no exception. He became successful not only because he has business acumen or luck, he was blessed to have a wise and strong companion by his side.
One of the greatest moments in Chinese history taught us that when our Founding Father, Dr. Sun Yat Sen, met Soong Chin-ling for the first time in Japan, he was experiencing the lowest point in his life. Therefore, if it weren’t for her love and encouragement, our Founding Father would never have managed to rebuild his strength, regain his knowledge and confidence, to help built what is modern China today.
Japan provided him with an asylum and a home, and reinvigorated him. In the event that we have to go to war with our neighbor, and I hope it will never happen, I pray that my government will allow Japan a dignified surrender. It was the will of Heaven for choosing Japan as the meeting place. Anyone who cannot understand the work of God, does not deserve the right to run great wealth, to run my Godparent’s foundation. Our history taught us dignity and humility consequently we will never be like the arrogant West.
The second most important woman in our modern history is without doubt, Madam Xi. Our First Lady stood firmly behind our President, enhancing his judgement to wisely rule over all of us. This is a blessing from heaven, reminding us that behind every great man, there is a strong pillar, a wise lady, always by his side.
Beauty and intelligence are congenital, class and elegance have to be cultivated. My Godfather may not have been nearly as powerful as our Founding Father and our current President, regardless I will always continue to admire and honour my godparents. I now recognize how privileged I am that they took me under their wings, they both loved me, taught me and brought me up like their own son. I am so blessed.
Dissatisfaction with Past Management
Since Nina’s passing, Anthony has distanced himself from her siblings, because he believes that their management of the Trust Fund was very unsatisfactory. However, he expresses gratitude towards his friend Donald Choi, the former CEO of Chinachem Group. During his tenure, the governance committee released the managerial positions of Gong’s siblings. He further stated: “My godmother never intended for them to manage the Trust Fund.”
The Trust Fund Should Focus on Youth Work
Anthony asserts that successfully operating the Trust Fund in our complex society today requires more than just ethics, empathy and good judgement. It will be a significant challenge” Exceptional management should not only possess expertise but also extraordinary capabilities and determination to make right decisions.”
He believes that understanding global environments and geopolitical developments is essential for modern philanthropist’s endeavours. While emphasizing a focus on youth work, he states, “Our future is in the hands of the younger generation! In 2017, when I assisted Judge Wu in his campaign for Chief Executive, I met with many young students. Over the past twenty years, inflation has been severe, but the starting salaries for most graduates has not increased accordingly leaving their job prospects unassertive. How can they dare to even start a family?
Proposing Scholarships from the Trust Fund
He highlights that education is a crucial aspect of youth work. “In the past four years, I’ve travelled through Eastern Europe, Central Asia, North Africa, and the Middle East, meeting many talented students who cannot afford Hong Kong’s high tuition fees.” Despite challenges, Anthony remains hopeful about society’s future. He suggests that social elites, government officials, and business leaders should collaborate to nurture and attract more talent to Hong Kong. He suggested that the Trust Fund should provide scholarships or part-time opportunities for international students in order to attract the best talents from around the world. Anthony insists that different scholarships should be established by the Trust Fund or youth programs promoting care for vulnerable communities, especially for the toddlers and the elderly.
He reiterates that his godparents invested throughout mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. If they were alive today, they would have provided scholarships for students studying abroad. My Godparent always believed that Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and our Mother Country is one family. No one can change history. We are all one country.
Enhancing Elderly Quality of Life
In addition to youth work, Anthony believes that the Trust Fund should also address issues concerning the elderly. He expresses deep concern for the elderly individuals being treated disrespectfully in society. Anthony mentions when he learned that some elderly people in our community are being mistreated it absolutely broke his heart. The government can afford to spend billions on constructing community isolation facilities for COVID patients, why can’t the Trust Fund provide resources to upgrade these premises and living conditions, restoring the dignity of our suffering elderly?
Willingness to Serve Society
When asked why he chose now to speak out now, Anthony explains that earlier last year he received support from five close friends; including Marjorie Yang, Chairman of the Esquel Group, senior legal advisor Larry Kwok, Hans Michael Jebsen, Chairman of Jebsen Group, Maria Tam, Committee Member for the Basic Law of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, and, Allan Zeman, Chairman of the Lan Kwai Fong Group, all wrote letters to the Secretary for Justice endorsing his involvement with the Trust Fund.
He recalls a final meeting with his godmother in 2007 where she expressed in a signed written letter in her final wishes for him to participate with the Chinachem Foundation fulfilling her legacy by contributing to society.
Even though Anthony has been recommended by many esteemed individuals to join the Trust Fund, he emphasizes that after 17 years of his godmothers passing, he, as the only family member, can contribute much more by becoming an observing member of the fund. It would be more beneficial to providing insightful recommendations in line with his Godparent’s wishes. He believes that this will fulfil his godparent’s initial and truest intentions.
Seizing Opportunities from Belt and Road Initiative
Anthony draws parallels with Emperor Yongle’s reign during which economic and cultural exchanges flourished under Beijing’s relocation. He believes President Xi has provided Hong Kong with great opportunities through the Belt and Road Initiative. The Grand Canal brought stability and new wealth to our nation. The Belt and Road will unit our neighbours through commerce, cultural exchanges and trust, reconfirming our Great Nation’s contribution to our modern society. This is the Will of Heaven.
He asserts that “the Trust Fund must be part of this effort; all sectors must participate! How we push our city forward requires experimentation, but we must keep our doors open for new opportunities. Only economic innovation and stability will bring new opportunities for everyone and benefiting all.

A LETTER TO WANG YI, THE FOREIGN SECRETARY OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA
WRITTEN ON THE 7TH FEBRUARY 2023
Your Excellency,
My name is Anthony Quintin Cheung. I am a total admirer of yours since first appointment as our Great Nation’s Foreign Secretary. I am sixty-two, grew up in Hong Kong and went to High School and University in the East Coast in America from 1976 to 1984. My tremendous love and devotion for Hong Kong and our Mother Country has taught me one very important lesson. Our Great Nation can only outshine our competitions in this very complicated geopolitical environment by maintaining our empathy and humility, and cultivate our diplomacy with wisdom, when dealing with the West. These are all great qualities I have learned from watching and listening to you. You have inspired me.
I intend to dedicate the rest of my life working with our youth, caring for the underprivileged and focus my professional life with business ventures that will set up the ground work to give rise to the acceptance of our RMB Digital Currency as the premium medium of exchange for world trade. I firmly believe that by winning the currency war, our great nation can maintain the love, the friendships, the commerce opportunities, that our Belt and Road initiative will inspire and continue to bless all of us.
I would like very much to share with you a few personal experiences which taught me that with true dignity and compassion, we will succeed.
Next time when America sends another group of government figures to visit our Provence in the South China Sea, why not extend an invitation to them to visit Beijing after their long trip, and listen to their lecture and their so-called words of wisdom. China and Taiwan are brothers. Our jealous western neighbors have been trained to intimidate us with arrogance. As a young trader in Wall Street, I always remember powerful bankers walking into conference rooms and began their speeches with the same 5 words: “Let me tell you this.” I kept my head down. I listened and I always trade against the less intelligent. I always reminded myself to never aspire to those with arrogance and lack any form of empathy when conducting business activities.
Your Excellency, our lady provincial governor who has rejected the offer of Chinese vaccine during the height of the epidemic without even first consulting the public, has already lost her mandate to rule. I have many influential friends in Taiwan, and they know, without doubt, that her time in office is at the end.
As regards to the Plus One, Japan, we must track carefully. If we have to engage in warfare, and there are many possibilities that confrontation may be provoked, I sincerely hope that our great nation will offer the Japanese people a final solution to surrender with dignity. Under your guidance, I am hopeful that there are diplomatic ways to mend the burned bridges before it’s too late.
I am a true believer of Karma. Our Founding Father, Sun Yat Sen, attained his strength to complete the ground work for his second revolution. It was in Japan where he fell in love with our First lady, Soong Ching Ling, his pillar, his faithful companion, who inspired him and gave him the strength, the courage and motivation to set the solid foundation for what is the People’s Republic of China today. Our First Father could have easily escaped to so many other South Eastern Asian cities: Singapore, Jakarta, Taipei or even Kuala Lumpur. Why Japan? It was the will of the Heavens. We must respect that.
During the lockdown in HK, I spent about 18 months traveling around the Middle East, Central Asia and Eastern Europe meeting new friends and learning about their cultures and how they conduct businesses. I begin to understand that in this bipolar world we live in today, the only way to offer hope is to encourage interaction, conduct commerce and share new education values with our neighbours. As quoted by Fareed Zakaria, “America is successful enough never to collapse, but it could slowly edge downward, mudding along with a haphazard mix of dynamic economies and dysfunctional politics. While American military power might still outrank others, the lives of average Americans would continue to slip behind, oblivious to the improvements aboard. The country could become more parochial and less global, loosing influence and innovation, all the while consoling itself with fantasies that it is utterly exceptional.” Belt and Road is the only solution.
I would like to dedicate my life for the success of the digital RMB, because I firmly believe that only the People’s Republic of China, My Great Mother Country, is the only great nation who has the audacity, the resources, the will power and the compassion, to lead human kind to a better future. During my travels, I observed, I studied and I charmed and made a lot of new friends from all walks of life. Many young people disgruntled by western media about human rights asked me the same question over and over again. My answer remains the same. Come visit and come see for yourself. Our future belongs to our youth. It is also China’s responsibility to not just educated our own, but to offer much more meaningful education opportunities to those around the world to visit, study and share their cultures with us.
Many of our Belt and Road partners like the UAE, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia already expressed deep interest to share resources with our government. When I was in Dubai, I have spoken to many high-ranking officials from these countries, including the President of Pakistan, his Excellency Arif Alvi, and his cabinet. I learned from my meetings that all our Belt and Road partners are very eager formulating new ideas to work with us. I have come to the realization that Trade Financing will become one of the biggest opportunities that any young souls can aspire to. Only when the world recognizes that the Digital RMB would become one of the major mediums of exchange, we will truly have won the minds and the souls of our friend and maybe even our past critiques. I firmly believe we have the right financial and business professionals to make this venture a huge success.
I have recently invested into and became a director or a very dynamic Web3.0 leader in the industry in South East Asia. Our company has developed the world fastest algorithm to asynchronously deliver information in the fastest and most unbiased manner in a peer to peer environment , utilizing blockchain technology without relying on servers. This company will become one of the world’s first major disrupter of traditional server and the cloud businesses.
There are four major industries which we foresee will benefit substantial from our protocol. 1. Online Gaming Business 2. Global Trading Network and Systems. 3. Corporate Data Management 4. Satellite Management. Our current processing speed at 1.3 million data per second is 4x faster than our next competitor, Microsoft. With the support of a government entity, the potential is unlimited.
It is America who needs to learn from the world rather than imposing their ideologies upon us all. This arrogant attitude clearly explains why this slowly dying empire rebuffed many opportunities to improve upon their own problems. Black Life’s Matter and Hate Asian movement to speak the least.
Your Excellency, we are all servants of humanity. When we are trading, building roads and bridges, exchanging cultures, and improving the livelihood of our neighbours through commerce, we cannot act like the arrogant West, but we have to engage them. One Belt One Road is the only solution to end the Third World War, started on the afternoon when a handful of Western European nations and America bombed Libya back in 1986. It is the will of the Heavens. Our Great Nation has been chosen to complete this task, and I am sure my leaders agree with me.
Thank you for taking your time to read my letter. I understand that the Hong Kong government has all the intentions to help our great city to become a financial centre in this new world environment, but we need much more guidance from the Central Government to make this happen. There are many capable and passionate citizens like myself in Hong Kong who are willing to dedicate our lives for greater good when there are more constructive encouragements from our leadership, offering new and creative business opportunities for public participation.
Your Excellency, I would like to seek a quick audience with you. If you can find time from your extremely busy schedule, a flight from Hong Kong is only 4 hours away. I sincerely look forward to continue learning even more from you, and I am certain that the Heavens will be guiding us always.

自從您在2013年起被任命為我們偉大的中華人民共和國的外交大臣以來，我一直非常欽佩你為國家做的一切努力，使我國強大起來，在不同的霸權影響下我國依然能在世界中站穩陣腳，您的影響絕對不能彿視。我今年61歲，在香港長大。1976年至1984年在東海岸上高中和大學，學習到了我國源遠流長的歷史和文化，使我對祖國和香港產生了深切熱愛和濃厚的感情，種下了一顆日後長大要為祖國偉大復興貢獻力量的種子。在出社會後我領悟到一個非常重要的東西，就是我們偉大的祖國在與西方打交道時，通過保持同理心和謙卑，並以智慧培養我們的外交，才能在這個非常複雜的地緣政治環境中和世界上的列強競爭，並且保持奮鬥的心，就好像習近平主席在中央政法工作會議提到要堅持發揚鬥爭精神。這些都是我從觀察和聆聽您身上學到的偉大品質。是你啟發了我。
在國安法成立後，香港這幾年由亂變治，危害國家及香港安全的勢力大幅減退。我打算將我的餘生奉獻給我們的年輕人，使他們不再受國外勢力的影響，重回正軌，同時也不能彿視弱勢群體的需要。另一方面，我承諾把我的職業生涯中的所有商業企業都投入，這些企業將大力推動人民幣數位化的基礎建設和推廣工作，使我們的人民幣數位貨幣被世界接受為貿易的首要交換媒介和支付方法。我堅信，人民幣一定會在貨幣戰爭中勝出，並且在國家貨幣數位化方面領先全球。我們偉大的國家能繼續夠保持“一帶一路”倡議和發展，將激發並繼續我們中國人民對世界所有人的祝福，愛、友誼和商機。
我非常想與您分享一些我個人的經歷，這些經歷告訴我，只要抱有真正的尊嚴和同理心，我們終究一定會成功。
下次當美國或其他國家派出另一批政府人士訪問我們在南中國海的臺灣時，我們可以邀請他們到訪北京。中國和臺灣是兄弟，是一家人。我們這些充滿嫉妒的西方鄰居被訓練成用傲慢來恐嚇我們，靠著在中國和臺灣中輕風作浪找好處。作為華爾街的一名年輕交易員，我一直記得有權勢的銀行家走進會議室，不謀而合的都以同樣的句子開始他們的演講：“讓我告訴你這個”我一直低著頭，我傾聽，我總是與不那麼聰明的人進行交易。我總是提醒自己，在進行商務工作時，永遠不要嚮往那些傲慢和缺乏任何形式的同理心的人。
在這幾年疫情大肆炒作的情況下，甚至沒有事先徵求臺灣民眾和在外臺胞的意見的和情況下，我們的臺灣省女省長就代表所有臺灣民眾拒絕了國產疫苗的提議，阻擋了祖國對臺灣民眾對的心意和關心，加深臺灣民眾對祖國之間的隔膜。這樣罔顧臺灣民眾的生命，把政治凌駕於臺灣民眾的生命之上，很顯然地她已經失去了執政的權力。我在台灣有很多有影響力的朋友，他們毫無疑問地知道她的政治生涯已經到了盡頭。
日本議題也是要小心處理，我們必須仔細跟進。如果我們最終被迫必須參與戰爭，有很多導火線可能引發我國和日本之間的對抗。我真誠地希望我們偉大的國家能夠為日本提供一個有尊嚴投降的最佳解決方案。在您的指導和帶領下，我希望由外交途徑來修復被燒毀的橋樑，以免為時已晚。
作為一個中國人，我是十分相信因果報應。我們的開國元勳孫中山獲得了完成第二次革命的基礎工作的力量。他在日本愛上了我們的第一夫人宋慶齡，她是他的支柱，他忠實的伙伴，是她鼓舞了他，給了他力量、勇氣和動力，為日後中華人民共和國的發展奠定了堅實的基礎，造就了今天的中國。我們的始祖本可以輕易地逃到許多其他東南亞國家，新加坡、雅加達、台北甚至吉隆坡。為什麼是日本？那是天意，上天冥冥中有安排，我們必須尊重這一點。
在香港封鎖的這段期間，我花了大約18個月的時間在中東，中亞和東歐旅行，結識新朋友，了解他們的文化以及他們如何開展業務。我開始明白，我們今天生活在這個混亂的世界中，鼓勵互動是提供希望的唯一途徑。開展商務工作，並與鄰國分享新的教育價值觀，加強加深國與國之間的合作，創造共嬴。正如法裡德·扎卡里亞（Fareed Zakaria）所引用的那樣，“美國已經足夠成功，永遠不會崩潰，但它可能會慢慢向下傾斜，與動態經濟和功能失調的政治的隨意組合一起混亂。雖然美國的軍事實力可能仍然超過其他國家，但普通美國人的生活將繼續落後，無視時代的進步。這個國家可能會變得更加狹隘，不那麼全球化，失去影響力和創新，同時用幻想來安慰自己，認為它是完全例外的。“一帶一路”是唯一的解決方案，通過“一帶一路” 創造共嬴。
我想奉獻自己的一生為建設和推動人民幣數位化，見證人民幣數位化的成功。因為我堅信，只有中華人民共和國，我偉大的祖國，是唯一擁有膽識，資源，意志力和同情心的大國，才能帶領人類走向更美好的未來。在我的旅行中，我觀察，我學習，我著迷並結交了許多來自各行各業的新朋友。許多被西方媒體渲染的年輕人向我表達對中國人權的不滿，一遍又一遍地問我同樣的問題，但我的答案仍然是一樣的。快來中國旅遊，親眼看看，只有自己親眼看見，才知道我們中國的美好，並不像西方媒體所描述的那樣。我們的未來是屬於我們的年青人，中國不僅有責任去教育我們的年青人和讓年青人了解祖國的文化，也要為世界各地想了解中國的人們提供更有意義的學習和教育機會，讓他們參觀和了解。與我們分享他們的文化，互相交流，實現文化共容。
中國的許多“一帶一路”合作夥伴，像是阿聯酋、巴基斯坦和沙烏地阿拉伯，已經公開表示有興趣與我國政府共用資源。當我到迪拜時，我與這些國家的許多高級官員進行了交談，包括巴基斯坦總統阿裡法爾維閣下及其內閣。我從會議中瞭解到，我們所有的“一帶一路”合作夥伴都向我反映出非常渴望與我們提出合作的新想法，尋求合作共嬴的機會。我逐漸意識到，年輕人最渴望和最想把握住的其中一個最大的機會就是透過貿易融資。只有當世界醒覺到數位人民幣將成為主流的交換媒介之一時，我們才能真正贏得世界發自內心的讚賞和驚嘆，他們甚至在過去的不繼批評我們的決定。我堅信我們擁有最合適的金融和商業專業人士去發展和推廣人民幣數位化這刻工作，可以讓國家貨幣數位化這一方面取得巨大成功，領先全球。
此時此刻，美國需要向世界學習，而不是把他們那套老舊和固步自封的意識形態強加給我們所有人。這種傲慢，高人一等的態度已經是不適用了，在現在的中國面前就像是隻紙老虎，不攻自破，這也清楚地解釋了為什麼這個慢慢消亡的帝國拒絕了許多改善自身問題的機會。美國從不正視自己國家發生的事，只會對別的國家說三道四，抹黑其他國家，像仇恨黑人和亞洲人種族這種言論卻避而不談。
閣下，我們要不停提醒著自己我們都是在服務人民的。當我們進行貿易、修建道路和橋樑、交流文化以及通過商業改善鄰國的生計時，我們不能像西方那樣，用傲慢和高人一等的態度行事，即使是這樣，我們還是必須與他們接觸，以德報怨。“一帶一路”是唯一的解決方案去結束第三次世界大戰，就像是1986年一些西歐國家和美國從下午開始轟炸利比亞。如果這是上天的旨意，我們偉大的國家願意接受上天的旨意去完成這項任務，我相信國家領導人都會同意我的看法。
感謝您抽出寶貴時間閱讀我的信。我充分明白香港政府有信心幫助這個偉大的城市在這個新的世界環境中再次成為金融中心，使香港回到惜日的美好和光輝。但我們需要中央政府更多的支持和帶領來實現這一個目標。香港有許多像我一樣有能力和仍然對香港充滿信心和熱情的市民，當我們的香港特區政府給予更多具建設性的鼓勵時，我們願意為了香港的將來和為香港尋求更大的利益而奉獻出我們的生命，為香港創造新的商機，加強公眾的參與度。我真誠地期待著繼續向你們學習更多，我相信上天將永遠引領著我們。
